Frequently asked questions
Is registration compulsory for the Char Dham Yatra?
Yes. Every pilgrim must register with Uttarakhand Tourism before setting out, and registration is free. It is done online or through the Tourist Care Uttarakhand app, and checkpoints on the road ask to see it. We complete the registration for everyone travelling with us.
In what order are the four dhams visited?
Tradition visits them from west to east: Yamunotri first, then Gangotri, Kedarnath and finally Badrinath. Our itinerary keeps this order, which also makes the best sense of the mountain roads from Haridwar.
How hard is the walk to Kedarnath?
Kedarnath is reached by a steep path of about 16 km from Gaurikund, which takes most walkers six to eight hours. Ponies, palanquins and seasonal helicopter shuttles are available for those who cannot walk it, and we can arrange them on request.
Can the Char Dham Yatra be done by helicopter?
Yes. Helicopter shuttles fly to Kedarnath in season, and charter tours can cover all four shrines in a few days. Seats are limited and weather can ground flights, so we book early and keep a road plan in reserve.
How much does the Char Dham Yatra cost?
The Char Dham Yatra is priced on enquiry. The cost depends on your travel dates, group size, hotel category and any extras such as helicopter transfers or private rituals. Send an enquiry and a specialist will reply with a tailored quote.
How many days is the Char Dham Yatra?
The standard itinerary is 12 days. It can be shortened or extended to suit you.
When is the best time for the Char Dham Yatra?
May to June and September to October, when the shrines are open
How demanding is the Char Dham Yatra?
The pace is demanding. It is ideal for devotees and families ready for mountain roads and a high-altitude trek.
