1. At a glance
- If we cancel, you get 100% back, or a new date if you prefer.
- Journeys: the earlier you cancel, the more you get back (table below).
- Faith Trails (day trails): full refund up to 72 hours before.
- Permits, flights and some tickets are set by others and may not be refundable.
- Refunds are processed within 7 working days of approval, to your original payment method.
2. Cancelling a journey
A journey is confirmed when you pay the booking deposit (usually 25% of the journey cost) and we send written confirmation. The balance is due 30 days before departure. If you cancel, we charge the following, counted from the date we receive your written cancellation to the first day of the journey:
| Days before departure | Cancellation charge |
|---|---|
| 45 days or more | 10% of the journey cost |
| 30 to 44 days | 25% of the journey cost |
| 15 to 29 days | 50% of the journey cost |
| 7 to 14 days | 75% of the journey cost |
| Less than 7 days, or no-show | 100% of the journey cost |
We refund everything you paid above the charge, minus any non-refundable costs in section 3. If a charge would be more than what you have paid, we will not ask you for more than your deposit, unless we have already paid non-refundable costs on your behalf.
3. Non-refundable costs
Some parts of a journey are paid to others on your behalf and follow their rules, not ours. These may be partly or fully non-refundable once booked:
- flights, train tickets and helicopter services (for example Kedarnath helicopter seats);
- government permits, registrations and visas (for example Kailash Mansarovar permits, Char Dham registration where charged);
- special entry, ceremony or puja arrangements, and festival-period hotel rooms paid in advance.
We tell you before you pay which items in your itinerary are non-refundable, and we always pass on any amount a supplier returns to us.
4. Cancelling a Faith Trail
Faith Trails are small-group day trails, such as Seven Faiths in a Day.
| When you cancel | What you get |
|---|---|
| 72 hours or more | Full refund, or move to another date free |
| 24 to 72 hours | 50% refund, or move to another date free (once) |
| Less than 24 hours, or no-show | No refund. You may pass your place to a friend for free |
5. Changing your booking
- Changing dates or hotels on a journey: free up to 45 days before departure, subject to availability. After that, we treat a date change as a cancellation and new booking, but we will always try to help first.
- Changing a traveller's name: free, unless a supplier or permit charges for it, in which case we pass on only that cost.
- Adding travellers or nights: priced at current rates.
6. If we cancel or change your journey
We may need to cancel if a journey does not reach its minimum group size or for reasons in section 7. If we cancel for any reason, you choose between a full refund of everything you paid or another date or journey of equal value. If we must make a major change before departure (for example, a different main destination or a lower hotel category), you may accept it, choose another journey, or cancel with a full refund.
7. Weather, closures and events beyond control
Sacred places follow their own calendars, and mountains their own weather. Shrines may close for rituals, festivals or security; roads may close for landslides or snow; governments may suspend permits. These are outside our control and outside the control of our suppliers.
- Before departure: if such an event makes the journey impossible, you may choose a free change of date or a refund of what you paid, minus costs we cannot recover from suppliers. We will show you those costs.
- During the journey: we will reroute, rearrange or replace visits as safely and closely as possible. Extra costs caused by the event (such as an extra hotel night) are shared fairly and agreed with you; unused services are refunded where suppliers refund us.
- On a Faith Trail: if one house of worship is closed on the day, we arrange an alternative visit. This does not give a right to a refund, but if two or more stops are missed, you may take the trail again free.
8. No-shows and unused services
If you do not arrive, arrive too late to join, or leave a journey early by choice, the unused part is not refundable, except amounts a supplier returns to us. We strongly recommend travel insurance that covers cancellation, medical care and evacuation, especially for high-altitude journeys.
If a traveller is asked to leave a journey because they seriously break the Sacred Code or endanger others (see our Terms), no refund is due for the remaining days.
9. How to cancel
Email [support@yourdomain.com] from the address you booked with, giving your booking reference and travellers' names. Your cancellation date is the day we receive the email. We confirm in writing within 2 working days with the refund amount.
10. How refunds are paid
- We process approved refunds within 7 working days, to the original payment method. Your bank may take a further 5 to 10 working days to show it.
- Refunds are made in the currency you paid. We are not responsible for exchange-rate differences or charges made by your bank.
- Taxes such as GST are refunded in line with tax law. Tax collected at source (TCS) on international journeys is deposited with the government in your name and can be claimed in your income tax return; it cannot be refunded by us directly.
